nd feel your success before it even happens. Last week I wrote about the important role that desire plays in setting goals, I wrote that goals that have strong desire attached to them will have much greater pull to them. The Universe hears and wants you to have all that you desire. The Universe will start to change itself to meet your desires.

While emotion is the strongest power behind goal achievement, that doesn’t mean you can sit on the couch and “will” your way through life. Goal achievement also requires action.

In the first (ezine) I mentioned that the wealthy understand what it takes to achieve success and how their habits, mindset and belief systems affect their level of success. This is the major difference between the wealthy and the poor. They do not think the same and they don’t have the same habits.

In order to achieve true success, you must make a commitment to personal development. Let’s be truthful; if you are not aware of how your habits, mindset and belief system affects your reality, how can you change them to be successful? It is a fact that if you are not where you currently want to be, your habits and thoughts have kept you from getting there.

So how do you identify and change them?

1. Spend time with people who have what you want One of the most effective ways is to spend time with people who have what you want. Every city has networking or business groups and your local Chamber of Commerce is a great start. There are also several other professional groups you can find both on a local and national level. The second way to meet successful people is to attend personal development seminars, events and workshops. Choose a function that looks exciting and attend! Be friendly, introduce yourself and start conversations. Follow it up with an exchange of business cards and keep in touch.

Personal development seminars and workshops actually serve two purposes: 1) You expand your awareness and knowledge (which will expand your success) and 2) You are spending time with people who are the kind of person you are aiming to be.

2. Commit to learning and expanding your awareness You can’t shift what you don’t know you’re doing wrong! The time you spend in personal development seminars and workshops will be invaluable to your success. Every function you show up to you learn a lot more about who you are and the things you’ve been doing (or not doing) that are stoping you from succeeding.

The rich commit to personal development daily day because they know their success is dependant on it. Simple as that.

3. Read, Read and Read More Pick up every book you can from experts who have achieved what you want. There are several industry leaders such as Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar and Bob Proctor who share invaluable tools for achieving success. Find someone in a leadership role who you resonate with and read, read and read more! The Power of Mentorship book series (Amazon.com) is a great resource for finding multiple industry leaders in a quick and easy-to-ready book. If you don’t have the time or energy to read books, then get audio books that you can listen to in your car or upload to your iPod.

Have you ever heard the term, “Success leaves clues” by Tony Robbins? Well, it’s true. There are plenty of people who have what you want, you only need to find them and learn from them. There’s no quick fix, it will take some work on your part to shift the habits and thoughts that have been holding you back. But it’s a lot easier when you can learn from someone who’s already been there.
